Mash It Up! returns - Sat 21 Oct

Mash it Up! returns on Saturday 21st October to The Lark In The Park, Copenhagen Street, London N1. This is a nice venue in Islington with a dancefloor area, bar area and chill out room at the back with comfortable seating.

The music policy is as always "upbeat, danceable ska, reggae and straight-up funky-assed funk from the old school". Tickets are again available in advance only and the night runs from 8.30pm-2am. For more details (including DJ info and playlists) visit the Mash It Up! website:

Jazz dance weekend!

What a treat this weekend has in store for lovers of old school jazz dance! All three days this weekend features a top jazz dance session. It's like buses - wait for ages then three come along at once! Make sure you get out to at least one of these sessions - you won't regret it! Proof that jazz clubbing is still alive and kicking in the 21st Century...

Friday night (6 October) is a cool sounding new session called Jazzin' @ Doon. Full details here (and check out that great flyer design!):

Saturday (7 October) sees the return of the Jazzcotech Dancers regular Messin' Around session @ The Jazz Cafe. This month features guest DJ MIKE CHADWICK (SmoothFM). For more info visit:

and Sunday (8 October) is the big finale - a reunion party at Dingwalls for Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forges' now legendary Talkin' Loud session. Expect a huge crowd for this one so get down early if you're planning on attending! Details can be found here:

Spanish Harlem Orchestra - 13-15 Nov

Lovers of Nuyorican salsa take note - the Spanish Harlem Orchestra play live at The Jazz Cafe from Mon 13th Nov - Weds 15th Nov. Doors open at 7pm with support from DJ Lubi (Fania) on Mon and DJ Snowboy on Tue and Wed.

The Spanish Harlem Orchestra are a Grammy nominated 12-piece group led by pianist Oscar Hernandez who has played with the likes of Ray Barretto and Ruben Blades.

According to Lubi you can expect "Butt-kicking salsa played the old school classic way from New York's finest".

Palmeras Kanibales live - 9 October

PALMERAS KANIBALES - A fascinating sounding Latin-ska-funk 8-piece hybrid orchestra from Venezuela will be performing live on Monday 9th October from 8pm
